Shipit Waterfall (correct name - Shipot) is one of the most popular natural attractions of Transcarpathia. This is a picturesque cascading waterfall about 14–15 meters high, located at the foot of Mount Gemba, near the village of Pylypets. Here are short instructions for visiting. 📍 Where is it and how to get there The waterfall is located in the Mizhhirya district of the Transcarpathian region, near the village of Pylypets. By car: Drive along the T-07-18 “Volovets-Mizhhirya” highway. In the village of Pylypets you need to turn left at the wooden church; the road will lead to a parking lot near the waterfall. From the parking lot to the waterfall there is a short hiking trail (about 300 meters) through the forest. By public transport: By train: to Volovets station (trains from Kyiv, Lviv, Mukachevo go here). Next: from Volovets you need to take a bus or taxi to the village of Pylypets. 🗺️ Route and what to see nearby Trail to the waterfall: the walk from Pylypets to the waterfall takes about an hour. The waterfall itself is located a short distance from the parking lot. Cable car: right next to the waterfall there is one of the longest cable cars in the Carpathians, leading to Mount Gemba. It offers a panoramic view of the Borzhava Range - this is a great addition to the trip. Seasonality: the waterfall is most flowing and spectacular in the spring or after heavy rains. In summer there may be less water. 💡 Important tips Admission is paid: the cost of an entrance ticket to the waterfall is about 50 UAH. Don't drink water from the waterfall! Water from open springs in this area is not suitable for drinking unless boiled. A case of mass acute intestinal poisoning was recorded among tourists who used water from the waterfall for drinking and cooking. Be sure to take drinking water with you.
