Lake Synevyr

📍 Ukraine | 🗓 Excursion Season | 📅 24.07.2026 — 26.07.2026
Lake Synevyr is the “pearl of the Carpathians” and one of the seven natural wonders of Ukraine. This picturesque lake, surrounded by a centuries-old spruce forest, is a must-stop on a trip to the Carpathians. Here are the main things you need to know before your trip. How to get there and how much it costs Synevyr is located in the Transcarpathian region, near the village of Synevyrska Polyana. You can get to it in several ways: By car: The most convenient option. From Lviv the journey will take about 4–4.5 hours (≈280 km) through Stryi, Skole and Mizhhirya. The road to the lake is paved. By public transport: You can take a train to Volovets station, and then take a bus to Synevyrskaya Polyana. Important: The last section of the road - from the Red checkpoint - can only be covered on foot (about 1 km) or by local transfer. Estimated cost for 2025–2026: Entrance ticket to the park: 60 UAH for adults, 30 UAH for children and students. Parking at the checkpoint: about 200–220 UAH per car. What to do and what to pay attention to Swimming is strictly prohibited: This is the main rule. The lake is a protected natural site, and the water in it is too cold (even in summer no warmer than +13 °C) and deep (up to 24 m). For swimming there is a fine from 510 to 1700 UAH. Best Views: Don't rush to leave. Take a stroll along the equipped wooden observation decks for the best panoramas. Be sure to look for a small island in the middle of the lake - it looks like a pupil, which is why Synevyr is called the “Eye of the Sea”. Legend and sculpture: On the shore there is a 13-meter wooden sculpture “Sin and Vir”, which recalls the tragic legend that gave the name to the lake.
