Spinalonga island (Kalidon), Crete

Well, who hasn't heard about this island? For some it is an impenetrable fortress built by the Venetians, but for others it is an island of lepers. Both are true. The fortress is very well preserved and from the top point there are magnificent views of the bay. This place is very, very popular, so it is best to go here with the first transfer from Plaka at 9 am, because by 11 am flocks of excursion boats begin to converge on the island and the island becomes very crowded. The most common thing is to walk along the perimeter of the island. But for real adventure seekers, I recommend deviating from the course and climbing to the very top. The panorama you will see is worth it.
