Kendwa village, Zanzibar

Well, what can we say about the so-called village. The part visible to tourists is full of eateries, shops and fruit stalls. From the beginning of the street, at the gate of Kendwa Rocks, there was an alcohol market, as we called it: “Everything for 20” (any wine for 20,000 shillings or 9 bucks). I would recommend local Dodoma wine or local Konyagi vodka at 5000 for 0.5. You can while away the evenings with these noble drinks on the veranda of your hotel room :-) Then... we skip the first trays on the right and left with fruits, you can only drink freshly squeezed sugar cane for 2000 shillings. Further...on the left along the way there will be restaurants, shops, trays and an exchange office where you can safely shop. And the prices are surprisingly low. Where the locals themselves live remains a mystery to me; at least I didn’t find their homes within a reasonable walking distance. But they say that there is even a market here somewhere. Most likely, locals are gradually being replaced by hotels. If you have a burning desire to see the life of the locals, then this can be done in Nungwi, where all life is concentrated.
